ALWKB is now on kindle unlimited!
"you mean I can get all that yearning and pining for FREE???" YEP!
Dearest beautiful readers,
I am so delighted to share that A LADY WOULD KNOW BETTER is now free to read on kindle unlimited!
It’s no secret that this is a difficult time to be a historical romance author. Even the legends of the genre are being forced to pivot to contemporary or fantasy romance as their publishers move away from acquiring more historicals. Promoting a debut histrom often feels like shouting into the void, but I am hopeful that ALWKB being added to KU will mean more readers get to discover it! And if you’ve read it, I’d be so grateful if you helped me spread the word about it so I can continue to (lovingly) menace the Maycott family for many more books to come!
Speaking of which, book two is coming along nicely! There have been some changes behind the scenes at my publishing house which have delayed things a bit but I promise it’s all for good reason, and I will share more as soon as I can! 🦚🛁🎲
Okay, here are some rapid fire updates on what I’ve been up to of late:

In April I celebrated Independent Bookstore Day at Perfect Books and had the most magical time meeting readers (including a lovely group who went on to read ALWKB for their book club 🥹) and hanging out with other local authors!

Then in May it was time for the Spring edition of the Ottawa International Writers Festival! I got to meet Liann Zhang (author of the superb JULIE CHAN IS DEAD) before her event, and then a few days later I was lucky enough to be on the festival’s second ever romance panel (after moderating their first!) with Jackie Lau and Uzma Jalaluddin, hosted by Jennifer Whiteford. And in early June I was on a romance panel at Indigo South Keys (my local Indigo growing up!) and got to hang out with authors (like the wonderful Ruby Barrett) and readers and chat all things romance!

Since then I’ve been working away on two different projects, one of which is still very much a secret, but one that I hope will be revealed soon! I’ve seen [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] and they are GORGEOUS and it’s becoming SO difficult not to scream about it all (if you ask me in person there is a good chance I will spill the beans because I am WEAK). I’ve long avoided labeling any of my books as the “book of my heart” as other authors do, mostly because I know how much it hurts when books die on sub, but this one might just be it.
Otherwise I am enjoying the sun when I can, getting back into running (poorly), tending to my potted plants, and hardly making a dent in my monstrous TBR pile.
I hope you’re having a gorgeous summer, and I’ll be back as soon as I can with more news and announcements! 💗
Yours,
Emma
P.S. If you’re looking to add to your TBR, two other recent historical romance releases are also now on KU! EARL CRUSH by Alexandra Vasti and THE TROUBLE WITH ANNA by Rachel Griffiths! Both are SO GOOD!
